Goodtimes Magazine Interview

Stacy is featured on the cover as well as having an article in the March issue of Goodtimes Magazine. Here is her interview.

Stacy Keibler is one of the most recognized personalities in the pro wrestling world today. This long-legged blonde with the girl-next door beauty embarked on a career as a model and a dancer that led her to earning a spot on the Baltimore Ravens ' cheerleading squad. She later attended, and won, a dance contest that landed her a check for ten grand and a contract with World championship Wrestling.

As the Ted Turner owned wrestling brand was bought out by World Wrestling Entertainment's Vince Mcmahon, Stacy brought her talents and presence to the WWE where she has become one of the wrestling buisness' biggest drawing cards.

As of late, Stacy's character on WWE's Monday Night Raw program has been the valet for the "legend killer" Randy Orton. On a recent Monday night broadcast, Orton challenged the legendary Undertaker to a match at Wrestlemania XXI on April 3. This will be just one of the cross-brand battles between wrestlers on Raw, and those on the WWE's Thursday night UPN network program, Smackdown.

For Stacy Keibler, the chance to work with Orton at wrestling's biggest event is just one of the reason for this year's Wrestlemania having a special meaning for her.

"I'm really excited this year," Stacy confides. "because I live in LA now, and Wrestlemania is at the Staples center. A bunch of my friends are coming, and my parents are coming into town. It's just such a great event because everybody's together; everyone's families are in town. It's exciting."

For many in the pro wrestling buisness, making it to the WWE is a fulfillment of a life ling dream. Yet, the prospect of a career in the ring was not in the plans for a young Stacy Keibler.

"I always wanted to be a Doctor. And even when I was in high school, and a little bit later, I was a physical therapist technician. I was biology major in college because I wanted to be a pysical therapist.. So I always wanted to be in the medical field. And science and math always came easy to me.

I was also a dancer and a model and an actress. So I always had my school and my modeling, and the wrestling thing just sort of happened. Then my life just changed all of a sudden right before my eyes."

Stacy's work in the WWE is focused more on her being a "DIVA" than an in-ring grappler. This role leaves her out of storylines that would ler her contend for the WWE Woman's Title. Asked is she is missing out on an important opportuntyi, Stacy voiced no regrets.

"I'm definitely more of a Diva. I am athletic, but I'm not a full-time wrestler. And I'm fine with that.I have no regrets; I really enjoy what I do. My role on the how is to be an entertainer, and I feel that I can entertain the fans in just as many ways not having a match as much as having one. If I wanted to be a full-time wreslter, I would probably have to train a little bit more and learn a little more. I could probably do that. But going out and being the next womans's champ is not something I put a lot of thought into."

Having been working in the WWE for five years now, Stacy's character has been imvolved in many different angles and storylines. Asked where she would like to see her character go nest,Stacy explained that her goal centered on becoming a bad girl.

"Our characters go up and down. What I want to do is play a heel, because I've kind of been doing the same thing for a while. I really like a challenge a I believe there is an endless amount of storylines I can do and wrestlers I can work with. I've moved to LA and now I'm taking acting classes. I like to keep myself busy with things just to have a challenge in my life.

"It (wrestling) really is acting. We have some talent that might not be the best in the ring;they might not have the best skills. Still they are some of the top guys, because they are entertainers and great actors. They feel it when they're out there, and the fans can fell the energy through them.So it's crucial now. In order to be one of the top people in our buisness, you need to be physical and know what you're doing in the wrestling ring. But, it's just as important to cut a prom and being able to act and show emotion so the fans can back you."

The WWE held a "Diva Search" contest last year. The winner Christy Hemme became the newest female on the company roster, abd recently posed in a spread for Playboy Magazine. Asked to express how she felt about Christy making the leap to Playboy before establishing herself as a wrestler, and how it might have a negative impact of her career, Stacy offered these feelings.

"Christy came in and won contest, but she wasn't really used on television in a major storyline. Then she did Playboy, and now she is in a storyline. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she just keeps rising and rising, because if you're given everything all at once, and something goes wrong or you fail, there's nowhere left to go. And christy's a great girl. She has a real passion for what she's doing. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed for her."

With the subject of posing in Playboy on the table, the question of stacy herself posing came up. "I can tell you point blank that they have asked me for the last two years to do it,and I've said no. It's just a personal thing that at this point in my life and my career that this is something that I don't want to do.

Torrie is one of my best friends, we ven share an apartment together in LA, and she's done it twice. And I'm so happy for her; I think the pictures look beautiful. But for her it was something she wanted to do. For me,it's something I don't want to do."

At this time of year, those in the wrestling world are completely caught up in Wrestlemania. So when asked about the futre, Stacy Keibler was only looking as far as April 3rd.

"It's going to be amazing. Piper's Pit is coming back, and Stone Colde (Steve Austin) is doing something.Hulk Hogan could possibly be there too. The cross brand matches that are happening with Kurt Anlge and Shawn Michaels and Randy Orton and Undertaker are going to make this a really great Wrestlemania. Something always happens, and things always end up happening that surprise me. Wrestlemania is the Super Bowl of wrestling and it's always the best of the best."
